Roseville, CA (June 15, 2002) – Schoolhouse Software, a leader in the
development of software that manages school cafeteria operations, today
announced it has signed three Top 500 school districts. The three districts,
all in California, ranked by student enrollment are: Elk Grove Unified School
District (USD) ranked #107 in the nation with over 42,000 students; Colton
Joint USD ranked #301 with 20,800 students; and Rowland USD ranked #350
with over 19,000 students. Schoolhouse Software is working closely with
food service directors at these districts and their respective staffs to
deploy CafTRAC™ Point of Sale (POS) and/or CafTRAC Office System software
aimed at increasing overall efficiency of food service operations.
"We looked at all other vendors before deciding on Schoolhouse Software,"
says Diana Herington, director of child nutrition services at Colton Joint USD.
"We were seeking to build a long term relationship with an established vendor,
and we were very impressed with the proven reliability of the CafTRAC point
of sale solution." Delois Davis-McDuffie, food service director at Elk Grove
USD, echoed this sentiment. "We are a rapidly growing district and needed a
system that could grow with us," adds Davis-McDuffie. "CafTRAC came out on
top in our search for a replacement inventory system – it’s a reliable product
being developed by a leading software company that’s committed to our industry."
The company’s CafTRAC POS software is built to speed students through
multiple serving lines, accounting for sales that are free, reduced or
paid while maintaining confidentiality among students. POS systems at
individual schools are networked to a central server in the district
office, where up to date eligibility and student information needed to
process meal transactions is stored. Food service directors
can choose from a variety POS terminal options to fit their operational
needs, including rugged POS terminals, touch screen monitors and wireless
POS solutions. Since students who see shorter lines are more
likely to buy, wireless provides added flexibility in setting
up remote food carts or additional food lines where wiring is too
costly or otherwise infeasible.
The CafTRAC Office System software runs in the "back office" to
capture daily food sales and provide managers with complete financial
reporting on food service operations. The Office software encompasses
a total of 12 integrated modules, including general ledger, A/P,
inventory, and scanned meal applications.
"It gives me great pleasure to welcome the school food service
staffs at Elk Grove USD, Colton Joint USD and Rowland USD to the
Schoolhouse family," says Robert LeVine, President of Schoolhouse
Software. "These three districts alone serve a combined total of
about 23 million meals annually. There is a lot of positive momentum
building for Schoolhouse -- the addition of these Top 500 ranked
districts clearly reinforces our market leading position in school
food service management software."
